The players were urged represent the country honourably

The National Council of Sports (NCS) Secretary Nicholas Muramagi has urged the Ndejje University Elite women volleyball team to represent country honourably at the Africa Volleyball Club Championship in Tunisia this weekend and keep the Ugandan flag flying high.

Muramagi told the girls during the team flag off at NCS Lugogo and urged them not to be intimidated by any team but be focused and win medals for Uganda.

"Don't be intimidated by the look of your opponents. They may be dressed smartly, having big contingents but all that does not matter and what matters is winning medals," Muramagi stated.

He lauded Ndejje University administration for the investment they have made in sports which is good for the development of sports.

"It is very rare to see a university investing over sh150m in a team to go for the event and I have to applaud Ndejje for that," he noted before apologising for not contributing to such a cause that lifts the image of Uganda and gives students opportunities.

"Investing in sports gives students motivation, opportunities and university image and platform to showcase," he stressed before adding that NCS is going to give support.

Ndejje University sports tutor Paul Mark Kayongo thanked the University administration for supporting sports and pledged to work hard and see that the team wins medals for Uganda.

The team departed Monday morning for Tunisia aboard a Turkish Airlines flight.
