Hima Cement Heathens' hopes of defending the Nile Special Premier Rugby League title were on Saturday quashed by Sadolin Mongers with 17-12 defeat at Kyadondo Rugby Club.

Mongers came into the game hoping to avenge the heavy 36-10 first round defeat at home and indeed secured it.

Andrew Olweny and Adrian Wasswa gave Mongers a 7-0 lead courtesy of a try and conversion respectively but Heathens replied with a try and conversion by Joseph Oyet and Philip Wokorach respectively to level the scores.

However Mongers quickly responded with a try by team captain John Wandicho and a conversion by Wasswa to end the first half with a 14-7 lead.

In the second half the hosts regrouped and deployed an aggressive brand of rugby with was rewarded with a try for Philip Wokorach to close the gap to 14-12 but Mongers scored a penalty through Wasswa to break Heathens hearts.

Betway Kobs defeated Buzz Pirates 15-10 to open up an eight point lead which puts them in a driving seat in the race for the 2015/2016 league title.

Mongers player coach Ssebalamu Kigongo attributed the win to team work and self-belief of his players.

"It was all about self-belief and determination. They came home and defeated us but we also came to avenge and we did it," Kigongo stated.

Meanwhile eight rugby fans won tickets to watch the Rugby Cranes international games in Uganda, Kenya and Zimbabwe later this year courtesy of Nile breweries.

Among the winners was former airtel sales and promotions executive Fred Komakech who won a ticket to watch the Rugby Africa Tier 1 A game vs Zimbabwe in Harare.
