The lecturers at the beginning of this week threatened to go on strike if the university did not pay their five months allowance arrears

The Makerere University Academic Staff Association has agreed with the university management to wait until April 23, 2016 to get their allowances.

The lecturers at the beginning of this week threatened to go on strike if the university did not pay their five months allowance arrears by Friday.

However, the University Vice Chancellor prof. Ddumba Sentamu asked them to give him until the April 23rd of this month when students complete paying tuition.

The secretary general of the association, Louis Kakinda says that they have agreed to give the university management a chance on condition that they get full payment not 3 months allowances as the vice chancellor had indicated.
