Douglas Owor scored a hattrick as Uganda Martyrs University made quick work of Mbrarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) in the Nile Special University Football League in Nkozi on Thursday.

It was easy pickings for UMU who scored on either side of the interval. John Tusubira wrapped up a massive win with the 4th goal of the day.

The win pushes UMU to the second place of Group A with four points while MUST sit rock-bottom of the group while Kampala University lead the pack with seven points.

On Friday, Gulu University can move to the top of Nile Special University Football League Group B if they overcome Busitema away.

Gulu managed to hold Busitema University to a 2-2 draw away and are currently enjoying arguably their best form ever in the league, and coach Julius Komakech is confident his boys can pick another result on the road.

Gulu's latest encounter in the league was an away encounter against Kyambogo University where they managed a goalless draw. Komakech believes it's motivation enough.

"We've had a great start to the season and were able to pick up a point away at Kyambogo. I am expecting us to do the same or even better at Busitema."

But last week, Busitema was not so different from Gulu because they also tamed Kampala International University and picked a point as well after a 1-1 draw at Nsambya.

"I think we did well to come from behind against KIU and draw 1-1. We created our own luck. All we need to do is have the same fighting spirit when we face Gulu," said coach Eden Ategeka.
