The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) has dropped terrorism and murder charges against an Australian-based Ugandan doctor Dr Aggrey Kiyingi.

His 31 co-accused are expected to take plea at an on-going pre-trial session presided over by Justice Dancan Gaswaga at Kampala High Court.

Kiyingi was committed together with five others on five counts of terrorism, murder, attempted murder, crimes against humanity and another count of aiding and abetting terrorism, all of which are contrary to the penal code act.

They include the former UPDF officer RA 17029 Private Mubajje Arajab alias Magombe Sulaiman who is alleged to have to have joined Isa Matanda in Mbale to train and recruit personnel for the ADF rebel group.

Others are the two drivers of Kiyingi's sister-in-law Aisha Nakasibante , Kibirige Solomon and Asadu Ssemwogerere.

The other is Hajji Abudalatif Byamukama alias Tusiime picked from Rakai where he is said to have been training and recruiting personnel for ADF.

The indictment reads that the accused persons and others still at large between December 25 and 28 last year killed two prominent Muslim clerics; the Shia leader in Mayuge sheik Abdulkadir Muwaya and a preacher at William street mosque Sheik Mustafa Bahiga.
