The main Opposition party, Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has suspended the Thursdays ‘stay home' demonstrations.

Party Spokesperson, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, told a news conference in Kampala on Monday at the party Villas, Najjanakumbi that the campaign was aimed at pushing police to withdraw from Dr. Kizza Besigye's home. Besigye was the party presidential flag bearer in the February 18 general polls won by NRM's Yoweri Museveni.

Police withdrew from Besigye's Kasangati home in Wakiso District about two weeks ago.

Semujju warned that the demonstrations would continue if police re-deploys at Besigye's home or restrict his movements.

Other activities such as Tuesday prayers will continue.
