Most of the affected schools are in areas where the violence has been intense
Several schools in Bundibugyo district have remained closed this term following the post-election violence that has plagued the district.
Pastor Peter Bamitirebye the Bundibugyo District Education Officer (DEO) explained that some schools have been forced to remain close for fear of having children killed.
Bamitirebye said most of the affected schools are in areas where the violence has been intense.
The Bundibugyo Chief Administration Officer (CAO) Eria Magumba said some civil servants at health units, sub counties, district and schools are also missing work due to the violence. He wants security at institutions beefed up.
Magumba noted that the area will be hit by poverty as the cocoa harvesting period has been affected by the violence.
