"Usually, teams wake up in the last fixtures of the group stages yearning to qualify for the next round but if you have accumulated points as fast as possible you will be on a safe side and that's what we want to do," said Kyambogo coach Deo Serwadda whose team hosts Gulu for their Nile Special University Football League first leg on Friday.

Gulu University has never won an away Nile Special University Football League despite trips to Kyambogo, Busitema, Nkumba, UCU and KIU.

And as they return to Kyambogo, the Northern Uganda based university carries a 3-0 defeat but their new coach Julius Komakech looking confident to change the trend.

"We need all three points from Kyambogo. At worst, picking up a point in Kampala will also not be bad. Yes, away games have been our biggest problems but we hope to see a new phenomenon starting with this Kyambogo game," Komakech explained.

Gulu opened their 2016 with a 1-0 home win over UCU while Kyambogo were winners over Busitema with the same margin away last week.
