National team amateur golfers Ronald Otile and Daniel Baguma are headed south to embark on a three-year scholarship they secured from the Royal and Ancient Club of Scotland, at the University of Pretoria, Cape Town.

The two golfers upon acquiring visas are set to embark on lessons through the Turks Golf Academy at the university with both pursuing academic programs besides golf.

Otile will be doing the ‘Champ Elite Golf' course designed to help people become serious professionals while Baguma will do a PGA Diploma Golf Course for both professionals and management of the game.

The two golfers left on Monday not only their academic obligations on mind but also the Zone V1 Africa Golf Championship title defense at the Royal Swazi Golf Club in Swaziland, April 11-16.

The tournament that will be played under a new format will have participating countries represented by two teams each. Uganda and Kenya who compete as guests will send one team (4 players each).

An 18-hole stroke play qualifier to be held on day one will set the annual tournament in motion, with the best 3 scores counting towards the team score.

Based upon the results of the stroke play qualifier, teams will then be seeded into divisions with 8 teams in the "A" Division.

A country versus country head to head knockout match-play will then be held on days; 2 and 3 of the tournament, before the final round to determine the winner.

"I think we can defend this title, the only problem is we have not camped as we did last time," Otile said before flying out.
