Meat, beer and BBQ rule Muchomo Festival

Apr 04, 2016

The project last year seemed a rushed money-minting scheme from the organisers with nothing concrete to offer the revelers

The second edition of Muchomo Festival held at Uganda Museum grounds on Sunday gave a suitable smoky atmosphere to the fest goers, picking up from the rawness that came with it, last year.

Not that the event was all boom and good,  the organisers need to improve on a few aspects , but it was better than last year and it showed glimpses of becoming a must-attend festival in future.

Organized by Kezzi Entertainment and Miss Uganda Foundation, perhaps what worked for them this year was, one, change of venue and, two, attracting more acclaimed chefs to roast their meats at the event.

The Museum ground is vast and offers that perfect outdoor picnic-like atmosphere and setting, with its location being distant from city centre.

The project last year, held at National Theatre, seemed a rushed money-minting scheme from the organisers with nothing concrete to offer the revelers.

On Sunday, seeing more chefs grilling meats and several food tents was mouth-watering. They offered menu choices that ranged from goat, beef, chicken and pork.

Revelers, who came in their hundreds and dressed for the event, indulged themselves in the meats and guzzled frothy beverages at their disposal. A number of socialites and celebrities huddled in their circles, coddling up in fits of laughter and noise.

Live music performances came from former Tusker Project Fame winner, Davis Ntare, deep in the evening. He is a fine vocalist who treated revelers to reggae and R&B covers, at times scat-singing on some songs.

Before him were curtain-raising performances from a number of upcoming artistes. It was a fine evening.
