The team arrived in Tunisia on Sunday just in time for the official practice round on April 5 before the 54 hole competition on the 6th-8th.

Despite the absence of Uganda Ladies golf Champion Flavia Namakula on the team that is in Tunisia to compete in the All Africa Challenge Trophy, team captain Eva Magala believes the current team will return decent scores.

Magala told the media before the team left for the 13th edition of the event due at the Citrus Golf Course Hammet in Tunisia, April 3-12, on Saturday that the Ugandans had prepared well for the biennial event.

"We have had good preparations because we started early but we are wary of the weather in Tunis; we are told it's windy and very cold but we shall adjust accordingly. We practiced at Serena just to have a feel of similar conditions," Magala said.

"We shall miss Flavia because we had started to gel and her absence might affect us but were getting stronger, I and Irene Nakalembe have been on the team for some time but now we are rebuilding; but I expect Gloria Mbaguta who is new on the team to be up to scartch, so we expect a good performance," Magala stated.

The team arrived in Tunisia on Sunday just in time for the official practice round on April 5 before the 54 hole competition on the 6th-8th.

The Ugandans will be up against teams from Botswana, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Gabon Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Tanzania, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Togo, Tunisia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

"We needed more time to acclimatize but we shall ask God to guide us," Magala remarked after UGC Treasurer Professor Anthony Kerali had flagged off the team at Kitante.

Uganda Ladies Golf Union president Maxi Byenkya and former president Rose Azuba alongside AACT president Monica Ntege also traveled with the team.
