Apr 03, 2016

Former BUL FC player Lubaale scores a brace in the second half to secure a win for the Hippos.

Ivan Lubaale scored twice as JMC Hippos FC beat Bright Stars FC 3-1 at Kakindu Stadium in the Azam Premier League.

Bright Star's defender Bernard Muwanga had put the ball in his own net mid-first half to put the hosts in front.

Farouk Banga leveled the score 10 minutes before the break.

But the other side of the interval saw former BUL FC player Lubaale score two minutes after the break and again 18 minutes before the final whistle to wrap up a convincing victory.

Saturday's was the Hippos' third straight win in this campaign, having relished victories over Express FC and Police FC in the earlier fixtures.

Also, they have now conceded three goals at home this season, thanks in part to the organizational skills of lanky defender Musa Walangalira.

"At least we are safe enough to say that we have an upper hand to survive the drop. We now have to plan for the next game," said JMC Hippos head coach James Odoch, whose side now have 32 points.

His opposite, Paul Kiwanuka, on the other hand said: ''We lost concentration after conceding an early own goal but we have to admit that we were up against a new team in the league with some of the most experienced players in the league .

"They know how to defend and attack well enough in large numbers and that killed off our game," said the Bright Stars head coach after the game.
