Hope Doves FC got a crucial away victory when they beat Wandegeya FC 2-1 in the FUFA Big League.

Remex Tumwebaze scored a brace as Nsubuga Akim gave the hosts a consolation goal.

Hope Doves replicated the same result they earned in the reverse fixture at Mutesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku in the first round.

Tumwebaze put the visitors in front 20 minutes into the game, assisted by Moses Okot.

In the other side of the interval, Wandegeya equalized through Akim on the hour mark. But 10 minutes later, Tumwebaze restored the visitors' lead - again from an
Okot assist.

The home side's new signing Denis Kamada should have leveled the score again but failed to beat the keeper on the two occasions.

Late on, Marvin Mbago was also wasteful as Wandegeya failed to recover.

After the game, the hosts' captain Joseph Kayira said they missed the services of two of their new players "who did not show up due to family problems".

On Saturday, his side will face Soana FC in the Uganda Cup.

Hope Doves head coach Ashraf Mwebaze was delighted with the win, saying the spirit of his boys was impressive.

"I hope to keep the spirit to be able to enter the playoffs places," he added.
