Vision Group on Wednesday continued with its series of ‘giving back to community' activities to mark its 30 years of excellence.
This time round, Uganda's media power house which evolved from a single newspaper a week in 1986 to a multimillion media powerhouse boasting TVs, radios, newspapers and an online platforms today, launched a tree planting campaign to "save the environment".
Partnering with the National Forestry Authority (NFA), the media house will plant one million assorted tree species, including the Mvule and the indigenous eucalyptus plus Musizi and Ntasesa trees.
The launch of the campaign at Kiswa Primary School, where four trees were planted to mark the start of the exercise, was presided over by Vision Group chief executive officer Robert Kabushenga and the NFA executive director Michael Mugisa plus the school's head teacher Aisha Ntege and the over 1900 school's population.

"Today, we start to plant one million trees so that in future each one of us (can say they played a part to control climate change). The reason it is so hot today and seasons are changing is because we have cut down more trees than we have plated" Kabushenga said.
Michael Mugisa said he was humbled Vision Group selected "tree planting" as one of its activities to mark its 30 years of existence.
He said as the environment continued to deteriorate under pressure from overpopulation and its activities, the campaign to plant trees was spot on.
