The decision for the ID project was passed over the weekend during the annual assembly.

In a bid to raise funds this season, Uganda Chess Federation (UCF) plans to introduce identity cards for all local participants in the league starting this season.

The decision for the ID project was passed over the weekend during the annual assembly.

"Besides helping us build a database for the players, it will also help to supplement on our budget," UCF president Vianney Luggya said during the assembly at Tick Hotel in  Kampala.

Later the house dismissed a decision to exclude university teams Makerere, UCU and MUBS from the league registration deadline adding that all other clubs must have at least paid half of the subscription fee before the national league commences in June.

All teams pay an affiliation fee of sh200,000 and according to UCF general secretary Christopher Turyahabwe,  it's a small fee that helps them pay for the playing venues.

"It's a small fee that we believe is convenient to all. This money is mainly used to pay for the playing venues and nothing else" he said.

Meanwhile on Saturday Goretti Angolikin was officially horned with a Woman FIDE Master (WFM) title following her tremendous performance at the Zone 4.2 championship that was held in Kampala last year.
