SHEEMA - Residents of Kashozi sub-county in Sheema district are living in fear of their food security and household income after a hailstorm ravaged the area.

The Easter Sunday afternoon rains raved the villages of Rwigaaga I, Rwigaaga II, Rwigaaga III, Rwakiziba and Itegyero, destroying banana plantations, crop gardens and houses.

A banana plantation belonging to water minister Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu was among those destroyed by the hailstorm.

Nazario Muhumuza, one of the leaders in the area, says they need urgent food aid from government because their food crops have been completely wiped out.

This is the second time this area is hit by such a hailstorm in a spell of two years.
