Reigning champs MUBS avoid giants in draw

Twelve teams will play home and away with the top four in each group progressing to the semi-finals

Uganda Martyrs University (UMU), Makerere, Nkumba, Ndejje, Kampala and Mbarara University Science and Technical (MUST) are grouped in pot A of the 2016 Nile Special University Football League.

Reigning champions MUBS, Kampala International University, Uganda Christian University, Kyambogo, Gulu and Busitema are in pot B for the competition that is set to roll of next Tuesday.

Twelve teams will play home and away with the top four in each group progressing to the semi-finals which will also be played on home and away basis.

Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS) president Peninah Kabenge has challenged organisers of Nile Special University Football League to start another competition for female university students.

Kabenge was presiding over the launch of the 2016 season at Kati-Kati Restaurant in Kampala when she said that as the Nile Special University Football League grows, she expects UFL to start a women's league.

The champion takes gold medals and sh2.5m top prize. The runners up take sh1.5m, trophy and silver medals while the third team bags sh1m, bronze medals and a trophy.
