National Softball coach, Allan Otim, believes the team is cut out for the task ahead in the World Softball Championships due in July Canada.

This comes after Uganda was seeded with some of the best softball teams in the world but Otim is confident his side can make a positive impact.

Uganda is in group 4 with Canada, Britain, and Republic of Ireland and it is common knowledge Uganda are the underdogs, this being their first appearance at the world championships.

Canada, the hosts, are well decorated, having won quite a number of trophies, with the 2015 Pan-America games being their latest addition.

Britain and Ireland boast of experience at the world stage.

"We are surely the underdogs but I believe the girls have now what it takes to put up a good show at the championships. We have also had a lot of friendly games, especially with the Kenyan national team," said Otim.

Japan are the defending champions after winning the 2014 edition in Haarlem, The Netherlands.
