Woman jailed four weeks for noise pollution in Kampala

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) enforcement team arrested two women for shouting on Kampala streets.

Faridah Nakibuule, 38, of Nakulabye and Allen Mbabazi, 32, of Rubaga all saloon attendants were arrested at Luwum Street for shouting to attract customers to their saloons.

They were taken to City Hall court where they were charged with disrupting city dwellers' peace by shouting and pulling their hands.

Before grade one magistrate Moses Nabende, the accused pleaded guilty of the charges and requested the court to pardon them promising never to engage in the act again.

The state attorney Hillary Musimenta told court that the accused are first time offenders and requested court to give them a lenient punishment.

Nabende sentenced Nakibuule to four weeks in prison as deterrence for the act and ordered Mbabazi to pay a fine of sh40,000 or face a sentence of four weeks in prison.
