Paul Chenier can start counting his blessings after winning the Barclays corporate golf tournament at Kitante on Friday.
Chenier who only took to the green six months ago, returned 41 stable ford points to beat a strong field to win his first tournament since starting out.
"I would like to thank everyone I have played with and also thank Barclays for giving me an opportunity to win my first golf trophy,"Chenier said after receiving the winners' trophy from Barclays bank managing director Rakesh Jha.
National team player Becca Mwanja beat Joseph Mawejje and Karanja Karubio to the top prize in Group A while James Byaruhanga's 39 points won him Group B with Michael Mwine and Jackson Kawuma taking the Groups C and D accolades.
The ladies category was topped by Sheilla Kesiime who beat Eva Magala on count-back just like Jovia Otim did to Betty Kieran in Group B.
Meanwhile Vincent Byamukama missed a chance to cash in on the sh800 prize money at the Barclays Kenya Open after he missed the cut on Friday.
Byamukama finished with an aggregate of 157 (77+80) over the opening two rounds to finish in 147 place out of 156 golfers.
Amateur golfer Ronald Otile who also played at the event could not also go past the first two rounds with a 160 aggregate score.
