Kirumira was in March 2015 elevated to the rank of Inspector of Police and posted to Kasese district to head Bwera police station

Former Nansana police boss ASP Mohammed Kirumira has been appointed the Old Kampala DPC in a mini reshuffled by the Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura.

Kirumira was in March 2015 elevated to the rank of Inspector of Police (IP) from Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP) and posted to Kasese district to head Bwera police station.

Before that posting, Kirumira was at Kabalye police training school in Masindi as an instructor following the completion of a refresher course at the Uganda junior command and Staff College in Gaddafi barracks, Jinja.

Kirumira sensationally claimed in 2014 that armed thugs were being given protection by police bosses.

In what he called a witch hunt by certain superiors, Kirumira was suspended and faced a disciplinary hearing where he was cleared of any wrong doing.

In the reshuffle, eight other officers have been transferred mainly from the Kasese area which has witnessed an escalation in post-election violence.

ACP Deo Obora has moved from Sezibwa Region to Kasese as the RPC Rwenzori East replacing SSP Bob Kagarura, SP Sam Odong has moved from Luuka to Kasese Municipal Division as the DPC, SP Vicent Mwesigye has moved to Bwera as DPC from Kasese Municipal Division.

ASP Emmanuel Ochamuringa has moved from Old Kampala to the Directorate of Operations at the Police headquarters, ASP Julius Baganzi has been appointed the DPC Katwe while ASP Jackson Maumbe has moved from Hima to the Directorate of Operations at Police headquarters.

According to the statement seen by New Vision, the transfers/appointments take immediate effect.
