TPO Uganda Brief Background

TPO Uganda is looking for individuals with outstanding repute to serve on its Board of Directors for an initial term of 3 years renewable once.

TPO Uganda is a local national NGO operating in Uganda for 21 years now in over 20 districts. Our projects target the most vulnerable communities delivering the following interventions:

Child Protection (Orphans and vulnerable children), Gender Based Violence, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Ecosystems, Food Security and Livelihood Support, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support and HIV/AIDS Prevention, and a humanitarian program targeting Southern Sudan refugees in Adjumani and Kiryandongo districts.

The TPO Uganda Board of Directors comprise of 9 members who serve as VOLUNTEERS on three committees namely; the Audit and Risk Management, the Governance and Organizational Development and the Programmes and Resource Mobilization that meet quarterly.

Person Specification:

Values: you will hold values very similar to our own; innovative, transparent, gender sensitive and above all posses' strong humanistic ideals.

Social skills: we are looking for someone who is at ease networking at both local and global levels; with governments, civil society organizations and academia. We shall be looking to grow our own profile and image from some of your contacts and networks. Membership to professional bodies and previous Board experience is desirable.

Organizational skills: Leadership skills, strategic planning, conceptualizing and designing innovative development concepts.

A minimum Master's Degree or its equivalent in a development work related field, Organizational Development, Human Resource Management, management specialists, Psychiatry, Psychology, and/or child focused work. You will possess more than 10 years of consistent service. We are looking for diversity and a mix of skills from either the NGO sector or business world.
