Former finance ministry PS Kasami dead

Former Ministry of Finance Permanent Secretary (PS), Chris Kasami, is dead.

Kasami who is also the former Secretary to the Treasury died in a Kenyan hospital in Nairobi where he has been undergoing treatment.

Keith Muhakanizi, the current finance ministry PS said Kasami at 8.35 am on Friday.

Muhakanizi said Kasami had been down for almost three weeks.

He described Kasami as a "hardworking man and a good administrator."

"He has been at the ministry of finance for almost 40 years since 1971 to May 2013, but even before that he was a permanent secretary elsewhere and then came back," noted Muhakanizi. He said Kasami was finance permanent secretary from 2001 to May 2013.
