Court orders former security officer to pay back for stolen motorcycle

Court in Arua has ordered a former security officer attached to the office of the internal auditor, Arua, to pay sh17m for the loss of a motorcycle which was stolen from the office premises.

James Letia, who appeared before Grade One Magistrate Faith Everest Palodi, was ordered to pay for the motorcycle because it was stolen due to his negligence while on duty.

Court heard that in August last year thugs broke into the premises of the internal auditor's office and stole the motorcycle.

Letia was granted bail last month after serving on remand for over 6 months at Arua government prisons.

He will re-appear in court on April 1.
