The district is in mourning following a spate of fatal motor accidents that have hit it in a row.

Two weeks ago, a commuter taxi from Mbale crushed in Koloin trading centre a few kilometers from Awoja Bridge, claiming eight people.

At the same bridge a private van plunged into it killing three people. Moreover, before the February 24, 2016 Local Council five elections, the Kumi district aspirant was killed with a female companion on the way to Lira for a funeral.

All these accidents have claimed more than one family member.

Colleagues and patients of Anebo are most devastated that she was exactly a week old at her new duty station after she was transferred on Monday from Awaliwal Health Centre II in Gweri sub-county to Atirir Health Centre IV in Katine sub-county.

"Anebo was our darling in Awaliwal; hardworking had love for patients and she was always available," said Rhoda Apeduno, the District youth council.

"We in Gweri did not want her transferred but being a civil servant; we had no control over the government standing orders."

The ambulance driver was buried on the same day being a Muslim. He was buried in Mbale his ancestral home.
