Prisons Spears lifted the men's award after ending the season with 26 points unbeaten while their female counterparts also finished unbeaten with 14 points in seven games.

The newly elected Uganda Handball Federation (UHF) executive have stepped up their performance and for the first time in history, the league winners were hosted to a 'surprise luncheon' during the crowning ceremony at Sports Beach, Entebbe over the weekend.

Prisons Spears lifted the men's award after ending the season with 26 points unbeaten while their female counterparts also finished unbeaten with 14 points in seven games.

"We were limping but at least we are now able to stand on both legs and am sure next time we shall even give them something better," UHF president Sheila Agonzibwa said on Saturday.

"It may seem small but am sure we shall organize a magnificent ceremony for our winners at one time," she added. The Most Valuable Players were not crowned  at the crowning.

The new elected handball committee started operations on January 30 and one of their major objectives this year is to host the inaugural beach handball league that will start with a coaching course later this month.
