FDC activist reportedly missing

Namurebire was allegedly picked by plainclothes gunmen.

Joel Namurebire, 26, a renowned support of the opposition Forum for Democratic change (FDC) has gone missing after he was reportedly arrested by plain clothes gunmen.

Namurebire was allegedly picked by plain clothes security operatives from his home in Kampala  last week and bundled into a privately registered car.

His father Sammy Edyangu says that they have tried to trace the whereabouts of his son since he was picked up on Sunday in vain. He says that they have tried to search for him at police stations around Kampala  but police told them they were not aware of his arrest.

Edyangu fears that his son could have been kidnapped because the people who picked him up refused to identify  themselves. He explains that his family has undergone alot of psychological torture since his son was picked up.

Namurebire is among the FDC youth activists and mobiliser for the opposition party who has been arrested on numerous times with no charges

The activist has allegedly been targeted for his political inclination.
