The two are set to travel for a three-year course through the Turks Golf Academy with both pursuing academic programs besides golf in April.

Ronald Otile and Daniel Baguma's three-year golf scholarship at the University of Pretoria courtesy of the Royal and Ancient Club of Scotland will not affect their positions on the national team.

The two are set to travel for a three-year course through the Turks Golf Academy at the university with both pursuing academic programs besides golf in April.

Otile will be doing the 'Champ Elite Golf' course designed to help people become serious professionals while Baguma will do a PGA Diploma Golf Course for both professionals and management of the game.

The R&A will partially sponsor the two for the three years. The Uganda Golf Union and the entire golfing fraternity will cover other expenses.

The Otile Fund that was started with the opening of an account in Stanbic Bank after his double win after last year's Uganda Open last year will play a significant role in this regard.

The duo participated and qualified on the national team that is set to defend the Zone 5 (former Zone VI) Africa Championship in Swaziland in April.

According to team manager Oscar Semawere the two will continue playing for the country despite being away from the rest of the team members who will be training in Uganda before the annual championship.

"Having them do these courses and successfully passing will put Ugandan golf at another level," Semawere stated.

National team coach Amos Kamya also sees this as an opportunity for them to sharpen their game ahead of the Zone 5 championship in Swaziland.

"Definitely they will remain part of the team and since they are going for a high performance program they will remain in our plans. For other tournaments like the East African challenge, the Union will have to organise tickets for them to fly in for such tournaments, otherwise they will just board a bus to Swaziland from Pretoria for the Zone V," Kamya said.

At the moment the two Toro Club golfers are the hottest amateur golfers in the country with Baguma having already won four local tournaments, while Otile is a Uganda Open double champion, a feat he secured last year and he is currently ranked second in Africa.
