"He said that dialogue yes but sharing power no. That is what he told me when I met him.

President Yoweri Museveni has ruled out a possibility of forming a unitary government, an idea that is being fronted by several opposition leaders, who lost the just-concluded February 18 presidential elections.

According to the president of the Farmers Party Uganda (FPU), Maj.Gen. Benon Biraaro, during a meeting with Museveni, the President-elect welcomed a proposal for dialogue to take shape between his government and opposition leaders.

"He said that dialogue yes but sharing power no. That is what he told me when I met him. I suggested dialogue so that we can discuss the country's political future, which he accepted but on the other hand, I also sold to him my manifesto idea of forming a government of national unity," Biraaro told New Vision.

Biraaro said that he met Museveni on February 25 at his country home in Rwakitura, Kiruhura district. The meeting started at 7pm. According to media reports, Lindah Nabusayi, the  Press Secretary to the President, declined to reveal details on the meet describing the talks as " private".
