Thunderbirds who lead the table standings with 10 points after two wins will be out to stretch

Black Panthers and defending champions Thunderbirds renew their rivalry this Saturday in the second round of the women rugby national league at Kyadondo Rugby club.

Thunderbirds who lead the table standings with 10 points after two wins will be out to stretch their lead while Panthers want to revenge the 28-0 first round defeat at the same venue.

According to Helen Buteme, the strength and conditioning coach, Panthers are capable of putting up a good show if their senior players turn up.

"I think they just lacked their senior players in the 40-3 defeat by Walukuba Titans but when all are board, it will be a hard game for Thunderbirds," Buteme explained.

Panthers boosts of Charlote Mudoola, Brenda Kayiyi, Helen Gizamba, Regina Athieno and others while Thunderbirds have Fortunate Irakunda, Charity Atimango, Rosenberg Kanyunyuzi, Christine Kizito, Winnie Atyang and others.

According to Butume, these games help players build fitness ahead of the international engagements which include the Elgon cup and Africa 7s championships.
