Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) is a National Ugandan Organization that was established in 1991 as a Medical Institution and HIV/AIDS Centre of Excellence specializing in Medical Research, Health Care and Training. Two (2) vacancies at JCRC exist for well qualified and experienced persons to be filled as indicated below;

Job Title: Nursing Officer

Reports to: Chief Nursing Officer

Duties and Responsibilities;

The Research Nurse (Nursing Officer), will be responsible for recruiting, screening, enrolling and following patients in interventional and observational protocol(s) conducted at the JCRC. Primary duties will include, but are not limited to: recruiting, consenting, enrolling and management of patients on research studies; performing and documenting study evaluations, medical histories, adverse events, physical assessments, specimen collection, clinical trial medication administration and monitoring; accurate data collection in research record, and quality assurance as per good clinical practice, and sponsor regulatory requirements; interfacing with monitoring, addressing and resolving queries. Given the responsibilities and scope of this clinical research position, the breadth and complexity of the portfolio of protocols and the need to work closely with the other research staff in the unit to cross cover protocols, it is essential that the incumbent have prior experience with HIV clinical trials.

Required Qualifications: Possession of a current practicing license, issued by the Uganda Nurses and Midwives

Council. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with one year of clinical experience; and an additional year of research experience with an established research institution. Ability to manage multiple projects at once, e.g. 3- 4 clinical trials
