Two passengers travelling aboard a Kenyan-Kampala bound bus died on the spot in a head on collision with a trailer.
The accident happened at at Busitema check point junction according to the police.
Busia District Police commander,Nelson Nahabwe, said several other passengers who sustained injuries were taken to Tanaka hospital in Kenya.
The police however, could not immediately identify the dead.
According to Nahabwe, the trailer registration number KBB 165R which was headed to Busia failed to break and crushed into easy coach bus registration number KBY 399V which was on its way to Kampala.
He attributed the accident to over speeding and drink driving. Nahabwe appealed to drivers to be mindful of the passengers they are transporting and other road users while driving.
