KICC bowler Irfan Afridi ended the Challengers' winning start to the 2016 UCA Division 1 Men's Cricket League with a stupefying show at Lugogo while Tornado registered their first win in three games, besting the Kutchi Tigers with four wickets at Kyambogo.

Afridi claimed a stunning 7/25 in 10 overs as KICC hammered the hitherto free-scoring Challengers by 118 runs on Sunday.

The Challengers had won their first two games by 190 and 126 runs respectively and were fancied to keep ticking after bowling out KICC for 204 in 42 overs.

KICC had been led by Kenyan Ahmed Rehman, who scored 71 off 57, but his efforts and those of three other compatriots whom had been flown in for this encounter seemed destined for vanity.

That's when Afridi took over, turning the Challengers' enviable batting attack into a heap of victims.

"I have been practising on my bowling for the last two weeks," he told the New Vision. "I was very confident in my game."

Ruyange led the Challengers with a paltry 20 runs while Henry Senyondo took 4/32. John Tumusiime scored 30 runs for KICC, who lost their season-opener to Tornado Bee.

At Kyambogo, record league winners Tornado beat the Tigers by four wickets to end their two-game losing start to the season.

Saddam Oyaga claimed 4/15 in four overs as Tornado bowled out Kutchi, who won the toss and elected to bat, for 139 in 36 overs. Sher Falak added 2/5 in four overs for Tornado. Rohit Hirani and Lalji Pindoriya scored 27 and 16 runs respectively for Kutchi, who had Narendra Kalai taking 3/33.

John Gabula and Raheel Mohammed had 48 and 40 runs respectively for Tornado, who are tipped to battle for survival rather than glory this year.
