Beleaguered Express FC to elect new leader

As a solution, the club patron Prince Kassim Nakibinge has directed immediate election of a new chairman at Wankulukuku for the first time since 2001.

The Express FC fraternity has identified leadership shortfalls at Wankulukuku as the cause for their deteriorating sporting power and persistent wrangles at the club.

The last democratically elected chairman of the club was Godfrey Kirumira, who served two terms before he quit in 2005.

A six-person delegation led by Express FC vice president Yusuf Katumba met Prince Nakibinge at his home in Kibuli and agreed to reorganise the fan base and then elect a new leader, who will then appoint his executive at the club as per his advice.

Express fans' vice chairman Julius Bakunda, who attended the meeting with club president Francis Bbale among others, said, "I'm glad the patron accepted our pleas to elect a new chairman. But he has advised us to first register all fans who will form the electorate and call for candidates interested in the chairmanship to come out".

Registration of the members will be at a yet an undisclosed fee. Anyone interested in contesting the chairmanship will have to submit their credentials to the board of the club that is led by the prince himself for scrutiny.
