High Court Kampala has sentenced an 82-year-old woman and her grandson to 15 and 32 years, respectively for the gruesome murder of her crippled granddaughter.

Delivering the sentence, Justice Joseph Murangira, noted that the convicts showed no remorse and were non apologetic even when given the last chance to say something after the judgment.

Describing it as ‘a rare of the rarest cases,'Murangira said the duo deserved a maximum sentence of death but taking into account the mitigations of their defense lawyer and the state attorney, the punishment was reduced.

"Taking into account their three year remand period and the fact that Hanifa Namuyanja is of an advanced age, I sentence her to 15 years and Hussein Lukenge to 32 years," he said.
