Jan 28, 2016

Wewe Dominic was found guilty of abuse of office, embezzlement and furnishing false accountability to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

The Anti-Corruption Court has sentenced Moyo district engineer to 3years and 6months imprisonment for failing to account for sh11.8m meant for payment of works on Masaloa-Chokwe road in Lefore Sub-county in Moyo District.

Patricia Amoko, the Grade One Magistrate on Wednesday passed the sentence after Wewe Dominic was found guilty of abuse of office, embezzlement and furnishing false accountability to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

The magistrate also ordered Wewe to refund the said money to the District.

While sentencing him, Amoko ruled that Wewe deserves the said punishment because misuse and mismanagement of government funds is becoming rampant to the detriment of tax payers.

Amoko ruled that prosecution adduced enough evidence to prove that between April and July, 2011 Wewe while in performance of his duties, stole the said money.
