Geoffrey Kizito is determined to secure a professional contract with Spanish La Liga side Malaga.

The Cranes midfielder travelled to Malaga on Monday and will spend the entire week undergoing trials that might culminate into a three-year lucrative deal.

The opportunity was brokered by former Barcelona midfielder Rayco Garcia, who organized the Barcelona Legends match last month in Kampala.

Garcia has just returned to Uganda from Rwanda where he had been hosted for the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).

"I thank Rayco for giving me this opportunity. I will give my best during the trials and hopefully secure a move to Spain," Kizito told New Vision before travelling to Malaga.

If Kizito succeeds, he will become the first Ugandan to play in the highly rated European league that boasts two of the best players in world football Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Garcia pointed that the trial stint will include two friendly games with Malaga's B team in the course of the week.

"I pray he does well. I believe this could be the start of better things to come for Ugandan football. This could open doors for the other players," Garcia pointed.

Malaga, who are famous for their blue and white striped shirts are owned by Qatari investor Abdullah bin Nasser bin Abdullah Al Ahmed Al Thani.

Arsenal midfielder Santi Carzola, Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Martin Demichelis have all played for Malaga before.

They are currently 12th in the 20-team league. Kizito is a brilliant box-to-box midfielder.

The Cranes star is a hardworking and tenacious player, gifted with strength, and stamina.

In Vietnam, where he turns out for Quang Ninh, Kizito has been high regarded for his tactical intelligence, and ability to read the game from his deep-lying position.

"He is tactical and understands the game well," Garcia stated.
