I read with a lot of sorrow an article published in the media highlighting that 83 health workers had not received pay for the past three months as newly hired workers.

Who is taking care of the health workers if they are busy taking care of our health without motivation? I can only imagine how bad it would get if all employers in our country where in the state the Pader health workers are protesting, waking up to no pay for three months, yet obliged to stand by your work ethics to treat all kinds of illnesses and health demands from the communities around you.

I can only imagine going back home in the festive season with nothing but a story of hope to your family, about your income and money to meet the demands that come with the celebrations. Let us remember that the health workers of this district and many others elsewhere who face this injustice , played their part and attended to patients, who are probably now back to their good health conditions out of the sweat of these health workers.

It is simply fair that frontline heroes like health workers and teachers, among others, are paid not just well, but in time. However, it adds salt to injury, if they are not well remunerated and the meagre pay comes in months later.
