Jan 17, 2016

Hima Cement Heathens had to sweat for their bonus point win against hard fighting Mutoni Warriors at Kyadondo Rugby Club.

BetWay Kobs rugby club continued their wining form after thrashing Makerere Impis 62-21 to stay on top of the Nile Special Premier Rugby League table.

Michael Amolo scored a hat-trick of tries, Keith Sseruyange two,  while Ambrose Kakuru, Dennis Kiwalabye, Alhaji Manano managed a try each as Adrian Kasato added four conversions.

Twaha Kyomuhendo and Chris Kamau scored a try each for Impis while Henry Ssenkuye three penalties and a conversion for Impis.

Kobs Coach Milco was impressed by the boys' depth but called on them to improve on the passing, support and team communication as they face tough teams in their next fixtures.

"I'm impressed we won with a bonus point but the boys have to improve on their passing and support of the ball carrier," he said.

Pirates crash Gulu 41-9

Still at Makerere Graveyard ground, a hat-trick of tries and three conversions by Ivan Magomu, and a try each by Dennis Etuket, Jude Kirya, Musa Muwonge and Edmond Tumusiime  were enough to hand Black Pirates a 41-9 bonus win over northern Uganda side Gulu Elephants.

Meanwhile, Hima Cement Heathens had to sweat for their bonus point win against hard fighting Mutoni Warriors at Kyadondo Rugby Club.

Emma Mwesigwa gave Mutoni Warriors a 5-0 lead courtesy of a try before Heathens replied in the same way through Dennis Mullo to set up a five-all half time break.

Heathens returned the brighter side and got three tries courtesy of Asuman Mugerwa, Philip Wokorach, Michael Wokorach and two conversions by Chris Lubanga and Philip Wokorach to win it 24-5.

Despite winning, team captain Michael Wokorach attributed Heathens' below par show to a transition where the young players have not yet gelled with the senior players.

"We are having many young players and we have not yet fixed that transition we are going through."

The League continues on Saturday with games at Makerere, Entebbe and Kyadondo Rugby Club.
