CITY Hall Court in Kampala has issued an arrest warrant for aspiring Kawempe North Member of Parliament Muhammad Ssegirinya.
This was a result of Ssegirinya missing several court hearings where he has to answer for mobilizing people and carrying analog television sets to Information Computer Technology (ICT) minister Nyombi Thembo's offices.
Ssegirinya on July 28, 2015, in Kampala at Parliamentary Avenue demonstrated with a TV set heading to the ICT minister's office.
He was arrested by Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) enforcement officers and charged inciting the public to carry television sets to Minister Nyombi's office.
On August 18, 2015, Ssegirinya attended the first hearing of his case where his lawyers led by Luyimbazi Nalukoola informed court presided over by grade one magistrate Moses Nabende that prosecution did not avail them the witness statements and facts of the offence.
That prompted the magistrate to adjourn the matter to September 11, 2015. On this date, neither Ssegirinya nor his lawyer Luyimbazi appeared in court.
The efforts to get Ssegirinya for a comment about the arrest warrant and accusations were futile as he was not picking up his mobile phone.
