A three-roomed day care centre for babies of female Members of Parliament and staff has been opened at Parliament.

 

The centre provides space for female MPs and Parliament staff to take time off to breastfeed their babies among other things.

It is furnished with a playing area, a mini swimming pool, a kitchen, fridge, television set, bathroom, baby cots, infants’ beds with mattresses, playing materials, furniture and reading materials. 

 

Parliament Clerk Jane Kibirige said furnishing the center cost sh10m. 

 

"The center has started accommodating eight to twenty babies, ranging from two months to three years. It is not open to the public, but will expand as the needs arise." Kibirige said.
