BETI Namisango Kamya the Uganda Federal Alliance president, has defended President Yoweri Museveni on government programs that are aimed at improving the living standards of people.

Speaking while distributing mango and orange seedlings to residents of Mengo on Sunday, Kamya challenged the residents to start differentiating politics from development instead of mixing them.

"Instead of dividing ourselves let us join together on issues of development because it does not separate whether you are from the Federal Alliance, National Resistance Movement, Forum for Democratic Charge or Democratic Party," Kamya said.

"Recently the Government under Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) distributed 100 million coffee seedlings to farmers across the country but many politicians came out and criticized it yet such programs are aimed at boosting household incomes" she added.

At the same function, Kamya lashed out at her critics who attacked her for handing Samson Kalibbala Kamya Memorial School which had been under her care for 22 years to government.

"I handed over the school to government in support of public education and if Museveni retires he will not go with it" Kamya noted.

Solome Ssebina the Namirembe-Bakuli councillor said giving out seedlings is one of the ways of creating employment opportunities for the public and sensitizing community to get involved in agriculture.

Kamya gave out 500 hibrid mango seedlings of Washington and Valentia variety as well as 300 orange seedlings.
