The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has today gone to the polls to elect party flag bearers for parliamentary, mayoral and district chairperson positions for the 2016 general elections.

- Voting in most parts of the country, however, got to a difficult start as disagreements ensue on who was expected to vote. There was also a delay in delivery of voting materials to various polling centres. 


10:30Hrs: Not a single vote had been cast at any polling station in Mbarara

 

10:32Hrs: NRM primaries have been called off in Masaka, Hoima, Namutumba, Lwengo and Wakiso.

 

11:46Hrs: Voters have started lining up for the poll exercise in Kyenjojo

11:55Hrs: Voting for mayoral seat flag bearers in Lira Municipality have been cancelled after several cases of irregularities were registered

12:07Hrs: Wakiso, Lwengo and Busiki county elections have been postponed due to various irregularities, among these are mis-spelt names of candidates and misplaced ballot papers

 

12:12Hrs: Elections in Kazo, Mbale Municipality and Busiki constituencies have been pushed to Monday next week.

 

12:27Hrs: Ofwono Opondo says where there has been administrative challenges, extension will be granted beyond the 4pm time cap
