During the occasion, the Indian High Commissioner to Uganda Dr. V.S Ramesh Chandra was the chief walker at a fundraising exercise from Jinja town to the premier tourist attraction, source of the Nile River where Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were interred.

“The funds raised will be used to beautify and improve the place to world class standards,” said the team leader of Sports Tourism International Aggrey Mwesigwa.

“Currently there is little of consequence to be seen at the site. In future there ought to be a resident band or dance troupe show casing the diversity of Uganda’s culture and norms.”
