Woman arrested over setting co-wife, children ablaze

POLICE in Mbarara have arrested Caroline Kyomugasho aged 26 for allegedly aetting ablaze her co-wife and her two children

POLICE in Mbarara have arrested Caroline Kyomugasho aged 26 for allegedly aetting ablaze her co-wife and her two children in Buteraniro village-Ndeija sub county Mbarara district.

 

Police identified the victims as Prisca Kembabazi (co-wife), her children Anita Nakawuga aged 8 and four year old Andrew Ssakayombye.

 

According to police, the incident occurred seven days after Kyomugasho was evicted by her husband John Bosco Ssemworerere accusing her of checking in his dairy.

 

“On checking in the dairy, she found out that her husband had had an affair with the first wife Prisca with whom they had divorced 2 years ago. When she tried to inquire why the husband had done so, he chased her and went and picked the first wife last Saturday,” Kyomugasho narrated while at police.

 

Speaking to New Vision, Kembabazi explained they were having supper at around 8pm and heard someone trying to open the door and shortly after, she saw a woman in the window spraying a liquid which fueled fire in the cooking stove that set them ablaze.

 

Kembabazi and her children are nursing serious injuries at Mbarara Referral Hospital.

 

Thabhani Kiliga the OC CID Mbarara central police attributed this to domestic violence which resulted into poor family management. 

 

He said police have already started investigations and they will bring the culprit to the book.
