KCCA removes illegal campaign posters, owners face court

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has embarked on removing all unauthorized posters in the city. In a Monday operation, starting with Nakawa division, the authority''s enforcement officers accompanied by police moved on foot removing all political campaign posters.

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has embarked on removing all unauthorized posters in the city.


In a Monday operation, starting with Nakawa division, the authority's enforcement officers accompanied by police moved on foot expunging all political campaign posters.

The authority spokesperson, Peter Kaujju, said that inspite of the warnings to aspirants, illegal posters were being pested everywhere. 

"We are following up on the owners. We are going to drag them to court for littering the city," Kaujju said.

Kaujju said that KCCA has put in place a special desk at city hall to guide all aspirants on how to conduct campaigns in Kampala city.

According to Kaujju, sh500 is supposed to be paid tp KCCA for each poster displayed for the whole campaign season.



On 24 June 2015, KCCA issued a notice to the public on poster display.
