Sport-S men''s volleyball team has laid out their ambitions for the 2015 season with victory over reigning league champions KAVC at the national championships in Soroti over the weekend.

Sport-S men's volleyball team has laid out their ambitions for the 2015 season with victory over reigning league champions KAVC at the national championships in Soroti over the weekend.
Sport-S VC currently enjoys top form with experienced setters in Albert Gayi, Waren Muhangi, the attacker Dickens Otim convincingly made easy work of KAVC in straight sets.
"Indeed it was a no-show between Sport-S and KAVC. KAVC did not show up. Sport-S relied on their experienced setting and block to conveniently overcome the opponent," former Sport-S coach and now national team tactician Nason Bwesigye said after watching the game.
"I think no team is going to beat Sport-S to win the league title unless they lose focus as the season winds up," Bwesigye, who also coaches the UCU national team said.
After losing the finals, contenders Sky VC senior player and former Sport-S attacker Isaac Omedo agrees with Bwesigye on the possibility of a new champion at the end of the season.
"Given the current trends, honestly I see a new champion if other teams (contenders Nemostars, KAVC and Nkumba) continue to depend on individual players. I will give Sport-S an upper hand because we (Sky VC) are still blending," Omedo said.
The women's category is still dominated by Vision Volleyball Camp (VVC) as they beat Ndejje Elites 3-1 to retain the national championship trophy. Ndejje had beaten UCU 3-1 while VVC overcame Nkumba 3-2 in the semifinals. In the men's semifinal hitherto winners Nemostars succumbed to Sky VC while Sport-S beat KAVC.
The national volleyball league resumes this weekend with first matches at the MTN Arena in Lugogo on Friday.
