Police Flying Squad have transferred rally driver Ponsiono Rwakataka to Masaka following his re-arrest in Kasese after he was granted bail by the court on Wednesday afternoon.

Lwakataka, who is facing charges related to illegal fish transactions in Kasese, was rounded up by security operatives led by the Rakai OC/CID, Taban Kirigga.

Lwakataka was transferred under tight security from Kasese to Masaka Central Police Station. He arrived at Masaka Police in a tainted car at about 7.00pm.

Lwakataka initially refused to get out of the car fearing journalists that were eagerly waiting to take his pictures.

A group of bouncers arrived and shielded Rwakataka from being photographed.  He was then whisked to the Masaka Police cells.

Kirigga said Rwakataka will face murder charges among  the several offences lined up against him.  He said
Lwakataka is likely to appear in Masaka and Kalisizo courts on Friday.

According to Police, Rwakatata was implicated in the the brutal murder of a family of nine people in Kyebe Rakai district.

Kirigga said Lwakataka was on the list of the suspects wanted over the incident.   Police have so far arrested and remanded a total of six suspects in connection with the murder.  

Lwakataka meanwhile faces charges of assaulting a police officer identified as Mikidadi Kabito at Sanje police post along the Kyotera-Mutukula road.

Security sources told The New Vision that Rwakataka is also facing other cases connected with misuse of a gun at Masaka Central Police Station.

Recently the rally ace said that charges against him were masterminded by his enemies who want to destroy him.

The family of the deceased Pastor Steven Mugambe was murdered in January last year at Mutagombwa village in Kyebe sub-county in Rakai district.

The victims included  the wife to the Pastor,Noelina Nalinya,Bena Nakivumbi,Jane Nakiwala,Christine Nasimbwa,Dan Ssemwanga,Maria Nakajugo and Andrew Mpeirwe.

The New Vision learnt that Pastor Mugambe had business conflicts with some of his partners in Kisenyi Kampala.

Pastor Mugambe was also managing funds from Denmark for running the Kyebe Pentecostal church which had also caused him enemies, According to the area Lc 1 chairman Paul Kato
