KAMPALA - The police Thursday arrested embattled rally driver Ponsiano Lwakata in connection to an immature fish scam and other offenses.

He was detained at Jinja Road Police Station in Kampala pending transfer to Kasese district.

Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, said Lwakataka was arrested along Second Street in Industrial area and was being held on the charges of assault and dealing in immature fish.

The rally driver's arrest came in the wake of police summons over a haul of immature fish that was impounded on June 29 enroute to Mpondwe-Lhubiriha Market.

Lwakataka had been escorting the vehicle when security and fisheries officials engaged him in a car chase.
