Government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo has said that the figures quoted from a ministerial policy statement highlighting the salary scale of both the State House and Office of the President were “inaccurate”.

Ofwono told New Vision today at the Media Centre that there is no one in the Office of the President and State House who earns above sh7m in salaries.

Ofwono, said that those who earn sh7m are former lawmakers who work either in the Office of the President or State House.

The Government Spokesperson was addressing the media following a presentation made by Opposition Chief Whip Cecilia Ogwal on Tuesday indicated that the highest paid civil servant in the office of the President and State House earns sh96m, a move Government has vehemently protested.

Ofwono said that there were errors in the data compilation of the ministerial policy statement which were corrected but lawmakers “deliberately” ignored them.

“The error occurred during the processing and uploading of the data sheets. We e-mailed the corrected version to MPs but they deliberately ignored it,” he said.

Ofwono addressed the press with Lindah Nabusayi Wamboka, the deputy Presidential Press Secretary, who said that: “I earn sh600, 000 per month and not sh27m.”
